Programme 2023
1. Architecture walk Java- en KNSM-eiland from 11.00 am -13.00 pm
The Eastern Docklands of Amsterdam have been developed from a port area into a lively residential area in a period of 25 years. The islands of KNSM and Java were first developed in the 1990s. The KNSM island (Jo Coenen) is characterized by large buildings along a central axis, on the Java island (Sjoerd Soeters) the building blocks have a smaller scale and the transverse canals and inner gardens determine the public space.
- Sunday 16 april 2023
2.Architecture walk Borneo-Sporenburg from 11.00 am – 13.00 pm
Borneo-Sporenburg has been developed for a new target group: families. Adriaan Geuze of West 8 came up with a new housing typology with compact terraced houses along narrow streets, inspired by the Jordaan. In the Scheepstimmermanstraat we see the first project in Amsterdam with row-houses for private clients, each built with its own architect.
- Sunday 5 maart 2023
- Sunday 2 april 2023
- Sunday 7 mei 2023
3.Architecture walk Cruquius from 11.00 am – 13.00 pm
The Cruquius area, a new development situated between the Oostelijk Havengebied and the Indische buurt, has been developed in a different way – without a master plan – and has a mix of living and working. We see what this means for the design of the building blocks, architecture and public space and the integration of several historic buildings, such as the former Sigma paint factory and Krux beer brewery.
- Sunday 19 februari 2023
- Sunday 18 juni 2023
4.Architecture walk 3: Oostenburg from 11.00 am – 13.00 pm
Oostenburgereiland is close to the center and has a long history of port and industrial activities. A flexible urban plan (Urhahn) offers space to gradually transform the area into a lively neighborhood with mixed functions. It is still under development and there is already a lot to see in new buildings and the transformation of the Van Gendthallen.
